Enhancement of Airfoil Performance by Rotating Cylinder

چکیده

This study used a NACA 6409 smooth wing section. Its performance is compared to an enhanced design incorporating revolving cylinder on the upper airfoil surface. The boundary conditions for present work were Reynolds (105), and attack angles (0,2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16). A turbulence model was developed (SST K-), one of aerodynamics models. well-suited sensing flow near wall. evaluated at three positions (25,50,75) percent chord's length. results indicated that position (25 C) optimal, as it resulted in 24.45 increase lift coefficient angle (12). And when those other studies, they revealed significant agreement.

Aerodynamic Performance Enhancement of a NACA 66-206 Airfoil Using Supersonic Channel Airfoil Design

Supersonic channel airfoil design techniques have been shown to significantly reduce drag in high-speed flows over diamond shaped airfoils by Ruffin and colleagues. The effect of applying these techniques to a NACA 66-206 airfoil is presented. The design domain entails channel heights of 8-16.6% thickness-to-chord and speeds from Mach 1.5-3.0. Numerical simulations show an increase in the lift-...

Mixing Enhancement by Dual Speed Rotating Stirrer

MIXING ENHANCEMENT BY DUAL SPEED ROTATING STIRRER by Arnaud Goullet Stirring is a well-known means of fluid mixing due to the emergence of complex patterns in the flow, even at low Reynolds numbers. In this work, we consider a stirrer rotating along a circular trajectory at constant speed. The fluid flow, considered incompressible, inviscid and two dimensional (in a circular container), is mode...

Flow between a stationary and a rotating disk shrouded by a co-rotating cylinder

Boundary layers on stationary and rotating disks have received much attention since von Kármán’s @Z. Angew. Math. Mech. 1, 233 ~1921!# and Bödewadt’s @Z. Angew. Math. Mech. 20, 241 ~1940!# studies of the cases with disks of infinite radius. Theoretical treatments have focused on similarity treatments leading to conflicting ideas about existence and uniqueness, and where self-similar solutions e...

“Hidden” Momentum in a Charged, Rotating Cylinder

The cylinder (of radius a) and the plates of the capacitor (in the planes y = ±b) can move independently and without friction in the x-direction, where the z-axis is that of the cylinder. That axis can be electrically charged with the opposite sign to that of the cylinder such that the cylinder as a whole has zero charge. The (linear, isotropic) medium between the capacitor plates, including th...
